PaySoon ("we", "our", "the app") is an expense-splitting app that helps you track shared costs with friends, family, and groups. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

• Email address — used for authentication and account identification
• Display name — shown to other participants in your trips
• User ID — a unique identifier generated for your account

If you sign in with Apple, we receive the information you choose to share (name and email, which may be a relay address if you use Hide My Email).

User-Generated Content

When you use the app, you create and store:

• Trips — trip names, dates, base currency, and participant lists
• Expenses — amounts, descriptions, categories, payers, and how costs are split
• Settlements — payment records between participants
• Feedback — optional messages you submit through the app

Automatically Collected

• Exchange rates — we fetch real-time currency exchange rates from a third-party API (Hexarate) to convert between currencies. No personal data is sent in these requests.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

• Provide the service — create and manage trips, expenses, and settlements
• Authenticate you — sign in and maintain your session
• Sync your data — keep your data accessible across devices
• Improve the app — respond to feedback you submit

We do not use your data for:

• Advertising or marketing
• Selling to third parties
• User profiling or tracking
• Analytics or behavioural analysis

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Supabase, a secure cloud platform with:

• Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL)
• Encryption at rest
• Row Level Security (RLS) — you can only access data in trips you belong to

We do not use any advertising networks, analytics SDKs, or tracking tools.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for their own purposes. Your data is only shared with:

• Trip participants — other members of a trip can see expenses, balances, and settlements within that trip
• Service providers listed above — solely to operate the app

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data — visible within the app at any time
• Update your display name and profile information
• Delete your account — contact us and we will delete all your data
• Export your data — contact us for a copy of your data

Data Retention

• Your data is retained as long as your account is active
• If you delete your account, we delete all associated data from our servers
• Soft-deleted items (removed trips/expenses) are permanently purged periodically

Children's Privacy

PaySoon is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
